Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Go Network a new denomination?
The Go Network is not a denomination. It is a voluntary, decentralized, advisory network. Congregations may remain fully LCMS (or affiliated with any other body) while participating.
What exactly are the expectations for churches that join?
Membership involves embracing and championing the Six Progress Targets and participating in mutual support and accountability. There are no institutional mandates or financial assessments.
What theological confession does the Go Network hold us to?
We accept without reservation:
- The Scriptures of the Old and the New Testament as the written Word of God and the only rule and norm of faith and of practice;
- All the Symbolical Books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God, to wit: the three Ecumenical Creeds (the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed), the Unaltered Augsburg Confession, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, the Large Catechism of Luther, the Small Catechism of Luther, and the Formula of Concord.
Will the Go Network govern, evaluate, or interfere with our congregational activities?
No. The network has no authority to direct, govern, or control congregational life. It also has no claim over assets, property, or personnel. Because the Go Network functions as a platform, its role is to connect congregations with the mentors, tools, and partners they need—not to own, control, or direct those resources.
How does accountability work if there is “low control”?
The Go Network uses a relational Matthew 18–style accountability model. Alignment happens through mentoring, peer cohorts, and mission-focused relationships rather than policy enforcement.
What practical benefits does our church gain by joining?
Benefits include leadership development, peer cohorts, missional discipleship training, access to shared resources, support from partner organizations, and participation in a collaborative ecosystem focused on multiplication rather than maintenance. These benefits help congregations shift from maintenance to true gospel-driven multiplication. Because the Network operates as a platform, it creates value by connecting congregations with mentors, resources, and partners who can meet their specific needs without centralizing control or ownership.
Will joining the Go Network create duplication or conflict with district leadership?
No. Since it is voluntary and advisory rather than governing, congregations can participate fully in LCMS district life while benefiting from additional mission-focused collaboration.
How does the Go Network help us make disciples and raise leaders?
The Network centers on Jesus’ discipleship process—Proclamation, Imitation, and Replication—and provides tools, models, and mentoring to embed missional discipleship into the life of a congregation
What does it cost? Are there fees, dues, or financial obligations?
There are no required dues, assessments, or benefit programs. The network may receive donations, but participation is not tied to giving.
